A few things worth knowing.

Neuron, synapse and connection: what’s the difference?

A neuron is a nerve cell. A synapse is a contact through which cells communicate. A directed connection links a source neuron to a target and may contain multiple synapses.

What do upstream and downstream mean?

Upstream partners send inputs to the selected cell. Downstream partners receive its outputs. A reciprocal partner connects in both directions; it can appear in both lists.

Does the 3D model show the fly thinking?

No. The 3D surfaces display brain anatomy. A connectome maps wiring; it does not by itself record electrical activity, thoughts or trading decisions. The signal walkthrough is an educational schematic.

Why can a neuron ID return no result?

Root IDs refer to a segmentation snapshot. Proofreading can change them. Check the dataset version and use Codex’s root-ID mapping tools if a cell cannot be found.

How should I interpret neurotransmitters?

A transmitter is a chemical messenger. The filter uses predicted labels. A target’s receptors and circuit context matter, so a label alone does not establish the effect of a connection.
